Cradle cap on 3 year old

My son is nearly 4 and seems to still have cradle cap. He has a patch of dry scaly skin on top of his scalp. It doesn't bother him and never seems to flake off which is why I hadn't noticed it before but having looked closely it's quite clearly there. Is this normal? Any idea how to get rid of it?

DD gets this sometimes.
A bit of olive oil massaged into scalp, then wash off with a gentle shampoo (green people ones are good)

Do you brush his hair?.... try the advice given with the olive oil, and then buy a baby brush or similar and brush his hair every day with it... this should loosen up the dead cells on the scalp... HTH

Thanks for the advice. I use a comb rather than a brush, so maybe I'm it's just getting through the hair and not touching his scalp at all. His hair doesn't tangle much and he hates me fussing over it so I've tended to leave it alone as much as possible. He is going to really resist me putting oil on his head - especially as he can't see what the problem is - but I guess I'll just have to cross that bridge. Hmm, fun bath time tonight then!

Ds1 had cradle cap well into starting school and ds3 (aged 2) has a lot of it too. TBH, I just left ds1's cradle cap as he had (has) such a thick head of hair that it didn't show. When people cut his hair they used to tell me it was there as if I should do something about it, but I couldn't see why I should. It went away eventually. Ds3's hair is not so thick and his cradle cap is visible, but it is not harmful and I would rather just leave it.

Ds1 only lost his cradle cap just after a nit scare and we were going through his (well conditioned) wet hair with a nit comb every week. Never found any nits, but cleared his cradle cap right up
