I've randomly missed a period and I'm worried because I don't know why this happened?

Hello,

I'm 23 (almost 24) and if my calculation was corret, I should have ovulated over New Year. I didn't start and my GP explained I didn't ovulate last month so won't have a period until next month.

Can anyone explain to me the reasons for this? Should I be worried?

The only thing that was slightly different for me last month is that between Xmas and New Year, I had flu and and ear/throat infection and so took a course of amoxicillin for 7 days over New Year.

I was hoping to try for a baby this year and now I feel really down and disheartened.

I'm not pregnant either. Just thought I'd add that.

I don't know myself but don't want you to go ignored so bump!

I looked it up for you Charlotte as nobody has any advice and it's likely to be hormonal?

I've skipped a period once or twice when stressed. Possibly because you were unwell over Xmas and New year? Hopefully it's just a one off, and you get your next period soon.

Its happened to me, and GP explained its perfectly normal. Can just happen sometimes, for no reason....no, don't worry, your body just decided not to ovulate for one month!

My cycle was perfectly normal again both times it happened, the following month

It's not unusual for ovulation to be delayed, or even not happen at all one month, if you're ill or stressed. Most women have a weird out-of-whack cycle from time to time.
