Endoscopy and.....

Menstruation.

Long story, short, I have my period (TMI, I know) and I'm due to go for an endoscopy on Thursday.

It may be gone by then, although I doubt it.

Had I been "allowed" I'd reschedule but I've already re scheduled twice and this is my last "try".

Will they still want me to go?
If they don't will it count as being my fault and take me of the waiting list (that's what happens if I re schedule)?

I don't WANT to go with it, but needs must...

is your endooscopy going for your throat or bum.. either way it shold be fine, ring and double check

Endoscopy is throat, it should be fine. They will still want you to go. Sorry about that.

Tiggiwinkle · 26/01/2009 20:34

Can't see why there would be any problem...

If you were having a colonoscopy you might be a bit more concerned, though of course, its a different hole

I wouldn't worry about it, it won't make any difference.

Incidently I had both in the same session, I did joke that if they did them both together you could meet up in the middle and floss me.

Good luck

Endoscopy just means scope down a hole, and that hole can be any orifice you can name.

Which is it?

The nether one! Unfortunately xx

It's alright. Different holes. Just use a tampon, keep your knickers on until the last minute, it happens, they don't really care. We get patients who are on a period and having an enema all the time.

What's the concern about having it done while you have your period?

If it's a colonoscopy it won't be a problem size wise as the probe is pretty small. The bits of the colonoscopy that I found uncomfortable were the actual introduction through the anus and then the going round the bends in my bowel. So I'm sure it won't be a problem with a tampon.

Good luck with it and remember to watch the TV from the start. I was too busy closing my eyes to deal with it that I missed the first five minutes of ThingOne's Bowel - Live on TV.
