benandalex I've had insanely itchy nipples on two occasions and took them along to the doc's - both times they thought some slight dryness had led to me scratching which had in turn led to a slight fungal infection. Nothing to see except a slight pinkness but cleared up within days with your basic over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream (daktarin, daktacort, type thingy).

hth

phdlife are you in (hmmm... trying to think where you moved to) NZ/ Oz yet? How far along are you now? at your "belly button popped out again thread from a few months ago.

Apologies for thread hijack.

Benandalex I'd get checked out for thrush or a fungal infection. Sorry to disagree with you Phd, if it's an infection, cortisone alone isn't a good idea because it will suppress the inflammation (and therefore the itching) but not necessarily the infection. For that you need an antifungal. I'd say try the cortisone to see if it clears up the itch but also go to the GP's and let them check you out.

yeah Jacksmama - probably the creams I had were antifungals as well (sure I recall doc saying something about that) but am too hot/pg to go check

yes in Oz now, and 2....8? 9? weeks. though everyone keeps insisting I look like 39 weeks (apologie for further hijacking!)

And how is Oz? Warm, I hope??? Since it was minus bloody 10 here this morning, grr!
I PMSL'd at your belly-button popped out thread, that's so great. Hope everything goes well!

yes it is warm - worst thing about being here I reckon. By warm I mean 30+ most days, with very high humidity. I keep waking an hour after I've gone to bed (with no clothes but the fan on) to find I've sweated a small puddle to sleep in. Niiiiiice.

Yes even I think the belly-button business was hilarious. You'd think something would've twigged!
