My dp has hurt his back, after lifting a heavy box.

He's currently prostrate on the floor, if he tries to move the pain is extremely intense.

I've given him painkillers, but what else can I do? I can't leave him there all night.

Alternating Ice & Heat helps. Ice is best at reducing inflammation, and whrn it gets too much replace with a heat pack for 10 mins.

Can he bend his knees up together and gently rock them from side to side? That may help?

WOuld suggest a GP takes a look though in case it is damaged. Have you phoned your Out of Hours service?
