Wisdom tooth - sore cheek

My upper left wisdom tooth has come through (at the age of 36!) and it has come at an angle and bashes into my cheek. It is quite sore around the tooth - I thought I had an ulcer, but not sure now. The gum is just sore - tooth doesn't hurt.

I last went to the dentist about 4 months ago and he said the tooth looked fine and now they tend to leave wisdom teeth unless they are causing a problem.

If it doesn't start feeling better in the next few days I'll go and have it checked out. I'm terrified of the dentist (although I go regularly - scared of things getting worse!) and am worried he'll say it's got to come out.

It can't be badly infected or anything can it if the tooth doesn't hurt? My cheek feels slightly puffy to me, but doesn't look it!

I do panic!! If top teeth grow in a southerly direction, this one is southwesterly so crashes into my cheek and I think the whole area might have got sore by my enthusiastic cleaning!

Thank you - I just needed reassurance.

Mine had a problem where they basically would bite/rub on the inner cheek, I didn't realise, but dentist said it was infected and whipped one of them out and gave me anti biotics - I had felt really grim and headachy, but hadn't connected it. mind you, she wasn't my normal dentist, so maybe she was just making a quick buck yours sounds a similar problem maybe?

Was it ok? I had the other upper one out about 11 years ago. Didn't hurt, but the noise I haven't forgotten. I'm such a wimp!

I went with dd2 yesterday and he was lovely. I have a localised gum infection - probably whacked the gum trying to clean awkward wisdom tooth. Got abs for a week. He said they only take out wisdom teeth if you have persistent problems and the tooth was very healthy.
