Fracture Clinic - what happens?

My dd broke a bone in her wrist on Friday and was given a half-cast for the weekend. We're off to the Fracture Clinic tomorrow to get the full cast put on.

It might sound sily but what will they do there? I am quite squeamish and had to look away from the x-ray when it came up on the screen. Will they x-ray the arm again or just cut the plaster off to put the new cast on?

They will either take the plaster off and x-ray again or x-ray then take it off. Then she'll either see a doctor or have it replastered then see a doctor. It depends on the fracture. You can look away. :-)

you'll sit around for HOURS, that's for sure!! Take reading material and snacks. Don't look down. There will be old people with yuckky feet

We were there for 2.5 hours but it wasn't x-rayed or recast. The doctor was quite happy how it had been dressed in Paeds A & E and said we could take off the cast oursevles in about 2 weeks time!
