Anyone had nose cauterised ?

Saw ENT consultant last week about nosebleeds. My GP said it would probably need to be cauterised but she couldn't reach it.
I expected at least a little local anasthetic but he just did it without warning or explanation. It was excruciatingly painful. I didn't mind though as I hope it solves the problem.
However it's triggered intense toothache on my upper jaw and earache. The doctor didn't mention this would happen and I don't want to seem a wimp but I'd like to know how long it lasts? It's been 5 days now.I can't sleep for the pain and I'm all topped up with ibuprofen.

Sorry that you're in pain mum I had mine done many years ago and it wasn't painful at all. Dreadful smell of burning flesh though. It was done with a hot taper type thingy. Is that how they do it now? It sounds like yours was further up than mine though.

I've recently been having nosebleeds again and they've resolved for now with a steroid nasal spray. If you're still in pain I'd call the consultants secretary and see if he can see you. I'm not sure that it should be so painful.

It was a chemical on a stick. My nose only hurts if I touch it. It's the nerves in my teeth that are the problem. If no better tomorrow I 'll do as you suggest and ring up for advice.
It had better be worth it!
