ME

It's actually not as bad as it sounds although if you are super-worried then ask the GP to give you a valium or two

It's much like having a filling in terms of pain/discomfort i.e. not NICE but not AWFUL (and much much quicker than a filling!)

The worst part for me was having the alcohol swab at which point I unleashed a mouthful of obscenities and had to apologise

Also I got covered with white linen and felt like some sort of human sacrifice

Make sure someone drives you home though - I didn't have enough cash for a taxi so waddled two miles home and then had to drink a bottle of gin to recover

The next day or two I was vaguely aware of it but it wasn't painful as such - probably wouldn't have ridden a bike but not too bad, not like post-childbirth stitches or anything!

Good luck, don't worry too much - and hope the result is fine

Me too.

Like MP, I didn't find it too bad. The swab thing was definitely the worst - they used vinegar I think to make the diseased area really pucker/show up so they could cut the right bit.

I was swimming a week later.

BTW, don't get a mirror and LOOK unless you really think there's an infection or something. I was convinced mine had healed until I had a terrifying glimpse ...

Oops

mumsnut and mp thanks for response. i already had the biopsies on monday. i agree the pain was the cleaning swab first-she used iodine which it turns out i'm allergic to as i nearly feinted with pain. i am wondering if i am allergic to the installgell which they gave me for afterwards. not only have soreness and itching of affected parts but also further back too. maybe it was from the iodine? feel a bit miserable tbh as having to continue with everyday life with 2 small kids meanwhile craziness down below and really quite worried about results.
btw-they have a snazzy new piece of equipment at the gynae's which allows you to see what they're doing as they do it. have the image burned into my memory.

HMMM I think I would ring the gynae and ask tomorrow, and perhaps pop to the GP if you are not happy with the answer. Sounds like someone needs to check it out.

Good luck! xx

princessllama · 15/01/2009 19:51

thank you mp. good advice will ring gynae tomorrow first thing
