'Fraid I'm a geek through and through.

I've been searching Pubmed, which indexes all the medical journal articles, and there's a lot of people trying to find effects on humans from electromagnetic radiation at levels we are exposed to by these devices. And failing. There's been some really big studies looking for effects from mobiles by studying really large groups of people that do and don't have mobiles. And not finding anything.

DaphneMoon · 15/01/2009 13:06

I have too much other stuff to worry about than whether or not I should have a mobile phone in my bedroom or not. We are surrounded on a daily basis by radiation. Why worry about it, you will never be away from it. Stop worrying about something you cannot do anything about.

stuffitllama · 15/01/2009 13:09

i agree with Daphne sort of

but weren't many of the studies funded by the mobile phone industry

cmotdibbler · 15/01/2009 13:11

No - that is a clear conflict of interest and has to be declared in the journal. Most are funded by the countries equivalent of the Health Protection Agency

NotQuiteCockney · 15/01/2009 13:14

It's certainly the case that any reputable study that found actual damage from mobile phones (or wireless broadband, or whatever) would get lots of media coverage. Goodness knows the rubbish studies (e.g. higher suicide rates near masts, oh, wait, I misplaced my data ) get enough play!

We obviously both read Bad Science NQC

SparklyGothKat · 15/01/2009 13:17

stuffitllama · 15/01/2009 13:21

NotQuiteCockney · 15/01/2009 13:23

What do you have against BG, stuffitllama? I've not seen any criticisms of him, maybe there's something I'm missing?
