I would go, put your mind at rest if nothing else and you can come home again if she is ok

TooMuchNoise · 14/01/2009 17:59

God Custardo no one will want to be the one to say friday will be fine and then it wasn't

I'd take advice from the hospital staff. They'll be able to say how serious it is in either the short or medium term. Can you phone and speak to the ward?

Tortington · 14/01/2009 18:07

i think you have to be next of kin, and the NOK is my uncle ( who is erm...dutyful) and his wife - who is main carer lovly woman and often calls herslef the daughter in hospital situations, as its her who does the running around etc

is very difficult giving out info over the phone. hospital staff are just not allowed.

i'd drop everything and go. if she is o.k then brilliant. if not then you would know you had been there.
sorry that sounded a bit brutal. for nan.

jenkel · 14/01/2009 18:16

My gran has recently been very poorly, I live 150 miles away and am slightly estranged from the family, apart from my Gran. I wanted to also know at the time if I should drop everything and go or wait to the weekend, I rang the hospital and explained the situation a little, without getting too involved, and they gave me their opinion without giving too much away, I think they said something like 'if it was my Gran I think I would wait until the weekend' I waited until the weekend, and she has since made a good recovery, or as good as you can at 92.

aunt said that she is doing ok
