Prolapse and bladder weakness..are they connected?

I wonder whether anyone can advise me.
I had a prolapse of bladder and bowel (cystocele and rectocele) when my DS2 was born 10 years ago. I also developed stress incontinence.
I did see a gynacologist at the time but decided not to go for a repair at the time as I had a baby and 2 year old to look after.

TBH I've not plucked up courage since then.
The stress incontinence has only ever been an occasional problem - I can live without trampolining! But In October I had flu and ever since I've had a bad cough. The strain on my pelvic floor has been grim.

What I want to know is , if I have a prolapse repair how will it affect the stress incontinence? Could it in fact make it worse?

You need to go back and see gynae.

I had a repair after my 2nd DC- over 15 years ago now.

The op should help both- they should lift your bladder outlet into the right position to stop it overflowing- it is currently lying too low and uner pressure it's giving in!

My on;ly advice is to get a good surgeon- someone who doeslots, as that can make a difference to the results.

Good luck!

Thank you HF, I will see GP and ask for referral.
