Ephedrine nasal drops (which you can buy over the counter) are brilliant. I always use them if I have sinusitis. They are very good at decongesting, and really help.

OMG - join the club!

I've been moaning about mine for the last 24hrs (am in bed so that's why there's so much rubbish from cariboo on MN atm)

tumtumtetum · 10/01/2009 16:03

I've always just used sinutab and other similar remedies and they have worked a treat. Have not needed antibiotics or even to go to doc about it so far.

You def have sinusitis though from the symptoms - the bit I hate is when it hurts when you walk every time you put your foot down!

Hope you feel better.

Lulumama · 10/01/2009 16:11

thank you very much

will get drops tomorrow.

am worried as i had it once when pregnant and i did not sleep for two nights with the pain and was literally banging my head on the floor to try to ease it . i don;t want to go through that again!!

hope you are feeling better too cariboo

thanks all x

Oy Lulumama, you're not going anywhere in that short dress! Go back to bed immediately!

francagoestohollywood · 10/01/2009 16:15

Lulu, try contac (if it's still on sale), it is a great decongestant (ime).
Also take lots of warm baths
I had to take antibiotics after a bad bout of sinusitis, though. I feel your pain!

Lulumama · 10/01/2009 16:19

if its no better by monday..get to the gp as you will need anti biotics

SoMuchToBits · 10/01/2009 20:32

I had sinusitis quite badly when ds was about a year old.Felt really ill with it. Went to GP who prescribed antibiotics, but also recommended the ephedrine nasal drops. It cleared up quickly, and ever since, when I have felt sinusitis coming on, I have taken the drops at the first opportunity, and not needed the antibiotics. I could kiss my GP, he is wonderful!

Hope the drops work, but if not, go to GP and get antibiotics.

Hope you are soon better (sinusitis is rotten).

nickytwotimes · 10/01/2009 20:32

I have found the decongestant sprays, such as Otrivine, more effective than oral decongestants. If you can get access to some, then give it a try. And yes, see your GP. Even if you do not need antibiotics, they can prescribe some steroid based sprays for the inflammation.
