I am a bit worried about this

I have noticed a change in my periods that I am a bit worried about. In the old days, my periods would start suddenly with bright red blood, but now they seem to start about 3 days before the bright red blood, with a sort of bloodstained discharge. Sometimes it is just a bit of a pinkish stain on the paper, other times, a slight brown stain on my knickers . Sometimes this goes on for maybe 3 days, sometimes it is just one day and then a day or two of nothing before the period starts. Does anyone recognise this? It is driving me mad wondering if this is normal or not.

i get this all the time.....brown for a day then nothing..then blood, proper period....i have never really worried about it as i read that the brown is old blood, supose that has to come out before the new blood....sorry to be so frank......no other way to describe it....

Thanks for anawering. So it might just be another sort of normality to the one I have been used to. TBH lots of things about my periods have changed over the last few years (think I might be coming up to the menopause)

this is precisely the pattern I have

I always get a warning of my impending proper period of a single day of brown discharge, usually 2 days

then a few hrs notice of the red stuff when the cramps start, its like bloody clockwork

has it always been like that for you af? I suppose the worry here for me is that this is a change from what was normal. I have mentioned a few other changes to a doctor but she did not seem concerned about it. Now I have a smear test due and I am so scared something will be found.

calm down mayiask

womens bodies change all the time

periods change as we get older, hormones settle down after childbirth and breastfeeding etc

mine changed after childbirth

I assume they will change again before my ovaries finally give up the ghost
