Red chapped cheeks

Morning - My 5mth old daughters cheeks flare up from time to time, they become really red, and then dry up & crack. She looks dreadful poor thing. Saw a GP before Christmas when it first happened & said it was just because of her newborn skin. Then happened again this weekend, so saw the HV this am, and just said to keep putting Epaderm cream on, it is looking slightly better. I have quite sensative skin, but worry it might be mild excema. Has anyone a similar experience, and found a wonder cure!!!!! This is the first time I have posted on here, but having read a few threads everyone seems really helpful!!! Thanks

Hi. My ds has similar redness on his cheeks and I've been told it is excema. I find vaseline rubbed into his cheeks helps a lot. HTH

I would go for Vaseline too. Ds sometimes gets quite chapped cheeks especially in this weather and it does seem to help.

Both my youngest ds's have this problem (2yrs and 3mths). I have been prescribed Dermol which I rub in every few hours to help with dryness and itching but you might need a steroid one too if it gets cracked. My GP prescribed a mild one which I put on at night (less likely to get rubbed off) which does clear it up much quicker.
