Mooncups: Has anyone actually given up?

Got my mooncup six months ago, and I just can't get it right. Have read everything I can find on the subject, but it just leaks like mad! Has anyone else just not got on with one?

Did you oder the right size?

Mine only leaks if i dont put it in properly

odearyme · 05/01/2009 17:29

I got the big size, 2 children over 30, and tried ever concievable way of putting it in!! My periods are very heavy, and earlier today it didn't leak for half an hour, but overflowed as it was full

I have given up, it lounges in my drawer and I feel guilty for not persevering.
Sorry not to be more positive, but you did ask!

They have a helpline I think - tried calling them?
Poor you, sounds really heavy - have they always been that way?

odearyme · 05/01/2009 17:32

Only since my last Ds, though it's only for 2 days, and then they pretty much only last for 4 days instead of 6.

My periods where really heavy after having ds2 (2.5) they have really eased off since using a mooncup though, now i am only heavy for the first 8 hrs or so

When i first put mine in, i pull down on it a little to seal any gaps and squeeze tight at the same time, if i dont do this it does tend to leak

odearyme · 05/01/2009 17:39

Yeah have tried that, it seems to just come round the sides!

Maybe you have a faulty one, ring the help line, they might send a new one for free

I have given up. I just found it really uncomfortable, leaky and messy. And too difficult to change at work.

I gave up too. I used it fine the first time, but the next time I used it for a subsequent period I found that I almost gave myself a prolapse! My cervix was far lower than it had ever been and it also felt like my vaginal wall had been distorted downwards too. Both of which freaked me out and made me revert back to tampons.

Also, I had intermittent leaking.

I really should try again, but am reluctant to.
