I've posted this in teh cookery bit as well, but thought I'd widen the net a bit, as it kind of spans topics...
MIL has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and must must must stick to a low salt diet. But while I was there over new year she ate
cheese on toast
bacon sandwiches
salted butter...
to name but a few salty things.
She says she got no help or advice from her GP, and is not at all the type to go and be pushy re diatician referrals or anything. She doesn't sprinkle salt on her food anymore, but that has been the main change she has made. She can't use lo-salt or similar due to the kidney problems.
I'd really like to find a good guide to a low salt lifestyle, with some recipes too.
I could only find one book in waterstones, and it was dead trendy - all wraps and asian influences, and just not anything that MIL would ever eat, never mind cook (this is a family that will ONLY do meat and 2 veg, no rice, no pasta...)
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this - might also post in 'health' or somewhere, but I'd be really grateful for any tips.
