I think it is from an ingrowing hair, but I removed said hair two days back, lots of pus came out , and yet, it is still there, and very very VERY sore.

It is quite big too, and in a place that, unless urgent, I am not willing to show to any of my docs...........and in a sensitive place.

is there anything I can do, or is this a doc cas.....((hopes like hell not))

I can't believe I shared about the cap.

Or if a flannel is too big you can use cotton wool but may have to dip it in the hot water more often.

psychohohohoho · 02/01/2009 23:02

DiffID,,,,,,that is almost where mine is.

I am still thinking about flannel (or acrobatics) tonight........I really want it gone, but I is a woosse (sp?), so therefore very scared.

seriously.....childbirth is better!

OP posts:
differentID · 02/01/2009 23:05

try squeezing while the flannel is on the spot. The heat may absorb some of the pain.

lol

psychohohohoho · 02/01/2009 23:09

will it actually pop tho......??

It still feels (and looks when I can contort myself down there) very bruised from the squeezing the other day. I am not keen (however much it hurts), on making things worse.

OP posts:
differentID · 02/01/2009 23:11

can yoe feel any scab from where it squeezed the other day? if you can, pick it off and then squeeze gently, increasing pressure gradually

whomovedmychocolate · 02/01/2009 23:12

When you have managed to pop it - you can whack sudocrem on it and it'll go down by morning. I had one and I was 'studiously ignoring it and definitely not poking it' (that sounds a bit Charlie and Lola and I sat down, crossed my legs and felt it go (urgh)

But I tell you what, it was a weirdly nice sensation when the pressure was released

dreamingofagreenlawnchristmas · 02/01/2009 23:12

I second the magnesium sulphate paste (drawing ointment) ... it does work by drawing all the gunk to the surface.

AuntieMaggie · 02/01/2009 23:14

it will be less sensitive once you have popped it and will heal quickly. mine was further down than this but still hurt like hell.

whomovedmychocolate · 02/01/2009 23:16

I can't believe we all have such mangey fanjies!

psychohohohoho · 02/01/2009 23:18

the scab soaked off when I had my bath to 'help' yesterday morning.....I then tried to squeeze more, and stopped thru pain........hoping that it would kind of dissipate (IYGWIM).

I seem to have angered it tho, as it feels ever-so-slightly biggr today despite the pus that came out the other day.

and now.......I am scared, but needing self-help (which you are all giving), but being terribly silly about taking[b;ush]

OP posts:
differentID · 02/01/2009 23:33

try in the morning with hot bath and hot flannels and magnesium sulphate paste- send dh to nearest Boots to get it.
I find I need to grit my teeth through the pain and yes your eyes will tear up but the relief will be great!

psychohohohoho · 02/01/2009 23:47

I am waiting till morning now......I pondered the hot flannel, but pain wise.....I would rather sleep tonight and than attack IYGWIM.

whomovedmychocolate · 03/01/2009 06:10

Pharmacists in supermarkets tend to keep magnesium sulphate in stock too. It will be bruised. Take some arnica if you have any.

If it doesn't go, you are going to have to go to see the GP but it being the weekend you can probably go see the out of hours GP who you'll never ever have to see again

SuperBunny · 03/01/2009 06:41

OMG, what is wrong with me that I clicked on this thread, read the OP and then continued reading despite never having had this problem myself? I knew I didn't want to read any more yet my eyes kept going and my finger kept scrolling and... I have to go and lie down now.

Good luck psycho. Sounds most uncomfortable.

DisastrousNuclearAccident · 03/01/2009 18:12

Well?

AuntieMaggie · 03/01/2009 18:27

did it pop?

psychohohohoho · 03/01/2009 18:32

nooooo.......didn;t pop.

altho, tis not as hurty, so......

Is it a bartholin cyst?

www.patient.co.uk/documents/Bartholin's_Cyst_and_Abscess.htm Beware of the diagram enclosed

I had one of those when pg with DS many years ago, t'was the most painful thing...EVER!

SuperBunny · 03/01/2009 23:22

Oh, psycho, have you tried a poultice - to draw the stuff out? My Dad used to make them from bread. Not for my nether regions, admittedly.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 03/01/2009 23:26

Did you try the tea-tree? 'Tis wonderstuff...

And you could try the 'sitz(spelling?)-bath' approach - water up to crotch height, hotter than comfortable, lots of salt, 20 mins then shower.

I'm so not a medical professional...

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/01/2009 21:43

Have you "sorted" it?

Mine is just the same after 6 days of antibiotics which are large enough to treat a small horse. I'm now wondering why I didn't seek help sooner and am dreading having to go back to the GP to see what the next step should be.

psychohohohoho · 04/01/2009 22:30

nope, altho it is smaller today......

another hot bath, with prodding and poking........tis harder today tho.

feeling very bruised.......unsure whether that is due to the squeezing and prodding or if bad things are going on......

OP posts:
WillyWonka · 13/01/2009 23:01

Did you ever get this sorted psycho?
