dislocated ankle and fractured fibia on boxing day. op to put a plate in on monday. resting is fine but lowering my leg nearly made me pass out this morning because i tried it without morphine. still have heavy cast on so am hoping lightwieght cast will make it easier. hopefully have that today.

any experiences?

hello, omg, i really, really feel for you.
i came off my mountain bike, many years ago and my ankle is now all plated and pinned.
the pain was unbearable, i remember wanting my then bf to shoot me to stop the pain!!!
it hurt so much more after the operation, but gradually it slowly gets better.
cant really give a lot of advice, but sending you virtual pain killing hugs...
hope you are feeling better soon.
happy new year. xx

I had both femurs broken in an operation to straighten my legs as a child and they were plated & pinned back together. Feel for you!

It does get better! I was bed bound for weeks in a hip spika frame though so no movement to aggravate the break.

ave some mulled wine

I've had a little pin in my thumb - plaster coming off this week but not sure what happens then.

I thought I was being mardy because it has been really hurting and was told to just take paracetamol .

Hope your feeling a bit better now. I looked on the web at a medical paper and it said 12 week recovery from my op - surgeon forgot to mention that!

thanks, pain is a lot better now. It was unbearable after the op. I am finding codiene really helping.

Hope your pain gets better soon
