Liver funtion test???

I have to have a full blood count every few weeks because of Meds I am on to control hyperthyroism.

Today GP phoned to say she needs to repeat my bloods early next week as my last liver function test showed that that something (can't remember what she said) was raised.

Does anyone have any idea what this means and what the implications of this are?

There are several liver enzymes that get checked with a standard LFT, so you'd need to ask yoru GP which one was raised...but in any case, a one-off raised enzyme can mean just about anything from something to nothing!

A cold, alcohol, paracetamol or other meds, a virus, can all show a raised LFT...though to some extent, it would help to know how raised and which one. The GP is repeating the test to make sure its a one-off, I wouldn't worry at this point (I know, easier said..).

Hope all well next week, and happy new year!

agree with elibean just to add if repeat is raised might involve adjustment of medication rather than serious disease
