Dry and itchy eyelids

My eyelids have been feeling dry and itchy for about a week now, getting progresivly worse.

I went to the chemist this morn and she said that just to put my usual moisturizer on my eye lids. I had put some eye cream on a few days ago and it stings.

Would those eye bath things help?
Anything else that I can try?

My vision is ok, it's just that my eyelids itchy like mad.

I get eczema on my eyelids and was referred to a dermatologist. She said the most common cause of itchy eyelids in women is sensitivity to nail polish and to avoid wearing it. Could that be it with you?

FWIW, she said I could still paint my toenails as long as I don't put them near my eyes

Oh, for itching you can use .5% hydrocortisone but you need to get it on prescription, I think. DON'T put anything stronger on them.

Vaseline at bedtime helps but feels a bit sticky.

I dont wear nail varnish or make-up, I am a scraggy dog

I might stick on vaseline tonight.

Wow dont belive this my hubby has over the last few days had dry skin on his eyelids. The patches look very sore.

It looks like a skin infection of some sort. Moistriser didnt clear it so he used some canastan cream and hey presto it is getting lots better.

I would go to your doctors if I was you. I have had horrible itchy dry eyelids for weeks and tried everything. Went to docs and he told me it was dermatitis and prescribed eumovate cream which has cured it. HTH.

I have excema on my upper, lower and occasionally on the inside of my eyelids. I use cetreben as an emollient and 1% hydrocortisone (which you can get over the counter as long as you don't mention that it's for the face/eyes), if this doesn't clear it I then resort to eumovate. I was told mine was due to make up , however, I don't wear make up or wear nail varnish...
