My nose and the centre of my face are permanently red - anyone know what this is?

It's not the skin IYKWIM, it's like I'm flushed all the time. I was wondering whether it could be linked to my diet?

Any suggestions would be so appreciated - it's really getting me down .

Could it be this? www.nhs24.com/content/default.asp?page=s5_4&articleID=325&sectionID=10

Yes, it could well be, although I don't have any spots or pimples (but if I'm reading it correctly, they aren't there at the beginning?). Thanks for finding that - sounds like a visit to the GP would be a good first step.

I have this too. It's tiresome but not dangerous. You can either give up all alcohol, spicy food and excitement or buy a) a good robust foundation and b) dramatic lipstick or eyemakeup to distract other people from your red bits. And remember that most people don't notice it much anyway.

sinkingfast · 27/12/2008 20:31

Thanks solidgold, that's useful. I don't drink very much at all but I do drink gallons of tea and coffee - could that have something to do with it? I also don't wear make-up - any recommendations?

Sounds like rosacea

honestfriend · 28/12/2008 14:22

Haven't looked at the link- but is it for rosacea?
There was a feature on this in the times Body and Soul yesterday- if you google, you should fin it.

p.s.

Both Clinique and Estee Lauder do heavy-duty foundations- you will have to see their websites for exact details- or there is www.dermablend.co.uk

sinking - I get a red nose from drinking coffee. really annoying, and I limit myself to 1 cup a day. any more, and I start to look like a clown. it runs in my mothers family

sinkingfast · 28/12/2008 21:43

Thanks for the links honestfriend and that's really interesting Nighbynight - maybe I'll try cutting out tea and coffee for a month and see what happens.
