Dizzy spells

I have had coldy/fluey thingy for three weeks. Fought it, carried on but on Xmas Day woke up feeling almost drunk, really wobbly and had two really dizzy spells. You know like when you're really drunk and your head spins? Had four or five a day since then and am a bit scared. Was meant to drive my Mum home today but am scared to drive in case I crash. Still have sore throat etc, just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

you may have an ear infection, this can affect your balance

Dizziness can be caused by very low blood pressure (which is way way better than high), but in your case I would second the ear infection theory. I had something once where I felt like I was on a boat in choppy waters all the time - not nice. See your GP.

What other symptons would I have tho'. I checked on NHS Direct and I don't have gungy ears, just sore "hamster" glands. Thanks for the quick replies, am bit worried.

I had headache and just felt generally unwell but had no gungy ears, lost my balance quite a few times, was diagnosed with middle ear infection
anti-b's were prescribed

So is it safe to drive, the docs might not class it as an emergency, I think?

My dd has just had a flu type bug and one of the symptoms of that was dizziness. Maybe its that.

stickyj · 27/12/2008 15:58

Feeling sad and wobbly too. Not flu i think 'cos that floors you, doesn't it? Maybe mild type if there is one, very floppy.

I've got exactly the same thing stickyj. The whole family was struck down by a fluey-type virus just before Xmas (perfect) and today I've been feeling very dizzy all day. Am assuming it's just part of the virus and am hoping it passes before we have to head 350 miles up the M6 on Monday.

Nearly fell in the shower, had to hang on to the taps!
