SIl and family stayed last weekend and I was surprised when my nephew wouldn't clean his teeth after breakfast when my dd's and i did ours. 'I don't do mine in the morning - neither do mum and dad,' he said.
I didn't believe him, and went into the living room to ask his parents, who confirmed to me that none of them did.
I was incredulous (although not too overtly I hope) Are they typical or am I with my twice a day regime?

Twice a day, morning (straight away, before breakfast) and night (before bed)

Urgh

Mine all brush twice a day, as do I.

Do they visit a dentist at all ??

yogabird · 22/12/2008 22:18

not sure, don't feel I can ask since i may have embarrassed them by mentioning it that morning. I just couldn't face the day without cleaning mine. Odd how we are all different but i am really interested to find out whether lots of people don't

I clean DS's after breakfast then at bedtime. Do the same for myself. Although I read the other day that ideally you should brush DC's teeth after lunch too- is that taking things too far?

littleboyblue · 22/12/2008 22:22

Twice a day here too.

DoubleBluff · 22/12/2008 22:22

BUT none of us have fillings
Just the way i was raised!

Ew...morning breath!

Gorionine · 23/12/2008 22:45

I was brought up brushing my teeth after each meal (3x/day)I still do it but Dcs are at school at lunch time and only do it morning after breakfast + evening before bed.

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 23/12/2008 22:47

I used to do mine in the mornings always and sometimes missed doing them at night.

When I met dh he always did his twice, so I always do now as well.

Tbh if I only brushed once, it would deffo be mornings, as I would worry about bad breath all day otherwise.

admysteltoe · 23/12/2008 22:49

My 9 and 10 year old dc, twice a day even if I have to force them and I do mine 3 times a day but then I have a dentist phobia so I better had.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/12/2008 22:49

I brush twice a day. I get problems with my gums occasionally and have a mouth full of fillings.

DH brushes once a day and has perfect teeth. Never had a filling. Dentist told him he only needs to go once a year.

DS brushes once a day (I don't like this but he's decided to copy his dad and I'm struggling to get him to change without straight forward shouting) I hope he takes after DH not me.

ScruffySoAndSo · 23/12/2008 22:53

I want to say that DC do not clean my teeth at all (sorry couldn't resist a cheeky go at your OP)!!

We are once a day here - just in the evening although DD1 and me do the morning in addition. Feel I am lucky to get them to do once a day.All good teeth here.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:54

I can't get my ds1 to brush his teeth when he's out of the school routine. It kills me. He'll clean them with an interdental while I tell him a story at bedtime.
