Nasty cough

I've got a horrible spewing cough and I've had it for four days now. I don't want to go to the doctor but is there anything I can do other than take Benylin?

Really good quality dark chocolate can help. I read an article about how the theobromine in it is more effective than many cough formulas.

I remember reading a newspaper article on that a while back. I wonder what the recommended dose is, I've got a hacking cough at the moment and have been using ginger wine, with no effect.
