Anyone else managing to avoid all the bugs - and will it continue or are we all doomed??

Touching wood and crossing my fingers - we have managed to avoid all the nasty bugs going around so far. Friends are droppping like flies around us - including with flu (the real kind). I am slightly emetophobic so can't stand the thought of the norovirus, but we are equally managing to avoid cough, flu etc.

So, are we just lucky so far? Is it unavoidable that we will come down with something (just in time for Christmas)? Or is it actually possibel to stay healthy and has anyone else managed to do it without sealing the entire family in a plastic bubble for the month?

We're the same at the moment - illness all around us, sickness and flu, and so far the worst we've had is the odd cough and snotty nose ! I haven't been ill in so long I am actually starting to think I am weirdly immune to everything !

I thought I'd avoided it, then it hit me 2 days ago. The timing is good so I'm not bothered.

Honestly I dont think I have ever known so many people to come down with bugs at the same time. I always find tho' that I am at my lowest ebb health wise between Nov and xmas.

dd1 has had (real) flu. Thats it. The rest of us have had colds, but nothing worse.

And we've never had a vomiting bug and dd1 is 5 years old on Monday......most of her school have had it....

paddyclamp · 19/12/2008 22:18

I'm hopin we have a better chance of avoiding things now that school has finished.

Colds, sore throats i can cope with but as an ex emetophobe stomach bugs fill me with dread

madrush · 19/12/2008 22:19

my dd's have both had flu this week, I'm waiting ....

I thought that the worst thing that could happen was the norovirus, but listening to my friend on the phone whose whole family has got flu, it sounds possibly worse.

So far, so good here in the fishy household! I'm a teacher and have had children flaking out all around me. Half of dd's nursery have been off ill with flu or D&V but we're all ok.
