PE, Blood clot

Ive been poorly for a while now, with a chest infection and pain in rib on the right (5 weeks) been on antibiotics but not cleared. Anyway the other day I went to gp and told him, I didnt think it was right. He listened to my chest and said he didnt sound like much air going through. So said I has to go to hosp asap with suspected pulimary embalism (sorry cant spell)

At the hosp they gave me a blood test, d -dimer which tested negative for a clot, and also did a chest xray which showed clear.

One dr said it an infection of the pluera (pleurisy) and the other muscularskeleton. They said to keep ub antibiotics and I could go home as long as I took painkillers (the hosp was full not beds) and if no better to come back. But it wasnt my local hosp as this was full.

The pain seems to be getting worse, have had the shivers and also ankles are swelling.

The only thing stopping me ringing the hosp is knowing that it cant be a clot.

Going to ring the gp after, but can it still be a clot if I tested neg.

Anyone got any advise, sick of feeling like this now.

Also sorry one dr at hosp did mention gall bladder, would this show on xray, it just doesnt feel like Ive pulled a muscle

A

It is impossible to diagnose over the internet.

Usually blood tests are pretty reliable, but you can never rule out the chance of an error.

The thing is, if you are getting worse, you need to be seen again. You have new symptoms (shivers and swollen ankles) therefore you need to be reassessed by a doctor, asap.

If i were you i would speak to your GP, or go back to the hospital.

I would go straight back to be honest.

agree with the other ladies - since you are feeling worse despite the ABs, go back.

Thanks 3littlefrogs

I will ring the gp after, can only speak to him at a certain time, had the shivers when in hosp but last night got the swollen ankles, they took all night to go down, I thought maybe a side affect from the antibiotics.
