Haven't had any voice at all for 5 days now. Throat still sore, but seems to be part of viral thing - temp was up last week but not much. Question is - how long should I wait for voice to come back before I see Doctor? What's normal?

I had it for about a week. It was hard. There is a spray thing you can get from the pharmacy that helps (sorry I can't remember the name) but it has a long nozel that squidges the medecine to the back of your throat.

Does Difflam ring a bell? Have sent DH for some. Tried to get myself at weekend but pharmacist was serving and wanted to sell me a £70 steamer/inhaler instead

I tink that's it. I got an electric inhaled from Boots (a lot cheaper) that has little cartridges you slip in and it has a lovely srong smell of eucolyptus, menthal, lemony stuff. Good for congestion and colds.

Ooh thanks GM - I'll investigate

sending lots of sympathy, am only on day 2 of not being able to speak and am going INSANE!
Good points are - got out of lots of meetings today
Bad points - I feel ROUGH, ds 1 (3) and ds2 (1) don't understand and dh is away for a couple of days so I can't not speak and am dragging a few words from my poor throat.
Can't believe it could last til end of week.

Oh, woe and misery...

(obviously I'm aware we could be much iller with more serious things but as I can't speak to anyone I have to indulge myself here...)
