Tips for mindful + slow eating

I am a bit of a gulper and find it hard to slow my eating/chew properly and I always end up eating too much until I am stuffed - how can I slow it down? I know it sounds obvious but I can't crack it.

Hmmm, not a problem here but perhaps the following would help:
Put your cutlery down between each mouthful.
Only half fill your fork or spoon.

Can you eat with people? I find that slows me down.

Or make yourself chew 15 times before you swallow?

Try to savour each mouthful as if you have never tasted that food before?

Drink a full glass of water before you start to eat.

In edwardian times they had to chew every mouthful 30 times!

motomoto · 14/12/2008 15:10

30 chews is a good idea! will try at dinner!

dividing portion into half, eat half and then wait 5-10 mins before going for second.

Eating with a teaspoon! (takes longer),

reading a broadsheet paper or fiddly book which is hard to prop up, while you're eating.

Eating while on the phone to your mother (lucky to get a mouthful in).

good luck!

motomoto don't worry, I am a fast eater too!
