Hiya,
Got a cold sore coming, and I know Tea Tree Oil is meant to be good for its healing.

So, having tea tree oil here, how often am I meant to use it, how many drops etc?

Can it heal it without the coldsore having to come out fully!

It's amazing much better than any of the preparations (Zovirax etc which just make them get bigger IMO)

I apply TTO as often as I can, I do it neat and pop someon the end of a Qtip and I also take a Lysine pill every day and increase the protein in my diet. it has reduced the CS's from 2 weeks nasties to 4 day wonders.

I get them an awful lot. last year it was at least once a month I was so run down.

Megglevache, do you take the Lysine pill all the time and does it prevent you getting one in the first place? DD 16 gets them and last month had an awful awful allergic reaction to a cold sore (erythema multiforme) Looks like she is now getting another cold sore and I'm terrified that she will get the rash again, so want to try and prevent the cold sores.

If you go to your gp he or she can describe a course of anti-viral tablets (aclovoir) you take 5 a day for 5 days and then it helps stop you getting cold sores for about a year or if you do get then they are miniscule and heal up quickly. You can take the course anytime even when you haven't got a cold sore.

Thanks Ledodgy - I had read about the anti viral tablets but thought they had to be taken all the time. Don't think they will prescribe anything unless she gets another reaction. If she does, I will be straight round the GP's.

Tbh tea tree oil is good but Lavender oil is better. Very cheap to buy, should have it in health food shop or even Salon Services if you have one near you.

I find L-Lysine works really well too - but I take 4 or 5 tablets a day!

The last one I had I took the L-Lysine and put some of those patches on the sore and it lasted 2 days.

I shall go and get some TTO now to have in ready for the next one.

Does anyone get mouth ulcers too? I got rid of an ulcer in a couple of days recently by using Aloe Vera toothpaste.
