.... get my mirena coil removed? I had it put in 3 months ago and have been spotting/bleeding pretty much ever since. Also have found myself more irritable than normal, tired and headachy. How much longer should I give it? Any experiences gratefully received!

I gave mine 5 months - I had it taken out two weeks ago and have really noticed the difference. I'd gained half a stone, whether through hormonal changes or just comfort eating because I felt so low, I had headaches, back-ache, I was much more tired and lethargic and very irritable - I was on a really short fuse with the children. The only positive was that I had finally stopped having spotting/periods .

Since having it removed, I've found I'm much calmer, I haven't had a single headache, my back's much better and I have more energy all round. I've also lost 2.5 pounds .

My GP said to give it 6 months, but was very understanding when I went to see her about it. I was dreading having it removed as I found it extremely painful to have it put it, but it was over in a split second and was less painful than a smear.

Thanks - the symptoms sound very similar! I'm just fed up of feeling cross all the time!

I didn't get on with Mirena either. It doesn't suit everyone. The bleeding/spotting is supposed to stop after 3-4mths. I had mine removed after 4mths and all symptoms went (still have the weight gain though...).

Have it removed if you want to. It's your body. Listen to yourself and trust your own instinct.
