I've had a bug on/off about 3 times in the last 2 weeks (stomach cramps, diarrhoea for abotu 12 hours -seems to go) and dd seems to be having same issue (she is only 5 months old). what can I do to try and break the cycle -I'm not sure its bad enough to go to doctor (dd not filling many more nappies than usual) but its causing a few nights unsettled sleep and getting on my nerves now...any suggestions/tips?

Wash all clothes/bedding etc, go round house with one of those disnfetants that kill 99% of all known life and clean everything you touch esp door handles, remote, etc, wash your hands dozens of times.

Worked for me when I had really awful vomitting and diarrhoea thing and no-one to look after very small dd for me. She didn;t get it.

Hot wash - not 30C, just this once.

Clean the toilet , toilet handle and sink taps every time you use the bathroom.

Agree with other posters - blitz clean and disinfect your house, and be scrupulous about personal hygiene (daily baths, keep nails very short etc). And wash all your sheets, towels etc at 90° (which you should be doing anyway - the 30° wash is totally insufficient for bedding and linens).

grapefruit seed extract good at killing tummy bugs. Tastes worse than echinacea, very bitter but does the trick. Not sure about use in kids but you could use it yourself.
