Surgery for Hemorrhoids - which one?

Since giving birth I have suffered from Hemorrhoids. Diet's good, so I don't get them often, but when I am in excrusinating pain - the kind that makes you faint. My GP suggested surgery and I noticed there are several methods. What's the best one in terms of outcome and recovery, please? Any other experiences or suggestion highly appreciated as well.

Glimmer, you may not get to choose the method with which your bum grapes are removed. That is usually left to the surgeon performing the procedure

Hmm - you don't necessarily want MN experiences, believe me...

Hmm - thanks for the answers and the link!!! Initially there weren't any responses, so I hadn't checked in a while. I went over the acute phase with hydrocortisol suposertories (sp?) and pain killers. GP said she'd refer me to surgeon. Honestly, this was the worst pain I ever had and there was no rubber band or self-surgery involved!!! GP also said I should stick it out, until I am done having children. But: if they get worse at the end of a pregnancy, I honesty don't know how to cope....
The newest method seems to staple them?
