I'm not a dentist, Yorkie, but my dh had something similar to this a few years back, and yes - it was a piece of the tooth that worked its way out. His dentist warned him that this might happen, though, so he was prepared for it.
Can you get back to the dentist and get them to check whether it's all out, and if you still need to go to the dental hospital?
