record breaking cold/catarrh

Am really fed up with the cold/cough/heavy catarrh that my DC and I have had for 8 WEEKS. None of us really poorly, DS1 just constantly sniffing and smells catarrhy, DS2 lots of green mucus and coughs a lot, I just feel crap and sinusy/throaty. GP said it's just a virus and everyone is reinfecting everyone else. We eat loads of fruit and veg, vit c drinks, ect. Anyone found anything that helps get rid of catarrh? Olbas oil doesn't shift it. Now into the third month! Help!

my little ds had it for about six weeks, his immune system is a bit weak. He is on antibiotics during the winter months but even this didnt stop him from getting it. I found covonia cough medicine helped him with his cough and ease the symptoms, although he hated it. apart from that i smothered him in vicks on a night, put olbas oil on his pillow and wiped all door handles and most used places with antibacteria wipes every day. In the meantime he managed to spread it to everyone! I think it is just a case of working its way through the system.
