Asthma Inhaler problems

I had to use my inhaler this weekend & took the recommended dose - it sorted out being breathless but I had a pounding fast heart beat & felt slighty shakey.

I'll be going to see my gp as I feel nervous about these side effects. Anyone else had this? is there anything else I could take?

shakiness and pounding heart is a side effect of Ventolin isn't it? (or can be)

My dd had this occasionally when younger and was taking the liquid kind.

Still, worth checking with your doc. Maybe you took an extra large dose?

I took two goes as one didn't have any effect. Never had the side effects before - I was really tired & just wanted to sleep but had to sit it out.

I always get this after taking my ventolin. I mentioned it once to my gp and he said that it was normal, just sit down for a minute!! That was a while ago and he is rather unsympathetic - "old school" type elderly GP. I presumed it is just normal and possbly due to very occasional use so not used to the effect. Will watch this carefully to see if your GP gives different advice as you have made me wonder now!

I think you're supposed to wait about five mins between the first and second puff.

Even though the first puff feels like it's had no effect it still opens airways to make the second puff go in deeper.

Poor you!!

Thanks mumonthenet

Lemontart - I'll let you know what happens - I already have an appy with gp mid december so I'll mention it them
