long ago, i had pointy canines, but the pointy bits came off some time during pregnancies. but just recently, i seem to be losing the tips of the top teeth. they just seem to be crumbling off. the way nails sometimes do when you dont file them down, moistruise them etc.
i have no fillings. never had any. never needed any. not particularly good dental hygiene. ie. never floss, and dont always brush twice a day.

is there anything that can, or should be done about my crumbling teeth? how much will it cost me?

Hello, Difficult to know without seeing your teeth. It will be one of three problems: you have tooth decay causing the teeth to crumble; you are grinding your teeth at night (you may not be aware of this)causing the tips to be ground down, this is relatively easy to treat with a nighttime mouthguard; or you have a rare genetic condition which causes the top layer (enamel) of the teeth to easily shear off. In any case the only way to get it sorted is to see a dentist, the sooner the better!

It sounds like the enamel has had some erosion which has gradually made them weak.

You need to get them sorted out - the dentist will probably fill at first, then if/when those fillings fall off, they might crown them.

You need to do it asap because if the tips are crumbling that means the nerve could get infected, then you are talking root canal etc etc. which you don't want!

Meantime be careful about what you drink. Do you drink a lot of squash, fizzy drinks, etc?

no. i drink lots and lots of water. coffee. and some orange juice. but not much. fizzy drinks tend to be about once a month.
i shall make an appointmenet with the kids dentist.
