Could I be having ketosis again?

I accidentally had ketosis for a few weeks last year (stressed, didn't feel like eating). Really didn't enjoy it.

I'm eating fine, these days, although granted not a lot of carb. (I am exercising a lot, to be fair.) Today I have that dreadful 'licked a penny' taste in my mouth again. Could this be ketosis back again?

ketosis, is certainly more than a possibility if you are low carbing and exercising loads. You need to increases your carbs and fluids to get rid.

get someone to smell your breath if it smells of peardrops - yup ketosis.

Hmm, just came back from climbing, feeling bit weak, think I am be over-exercising, too. Will take it a bit easy tomorrow. Or over the weekend?

(Since Monday, I've done 10x25 minutes cycling (will do 2 more this afternoon), 2x50 minutes running, 2x30 minutes climbing, 1x30 minutes swimming. That is a bit silly, isn't it.)

I'll eat some popcorn or crisps or something tonight. I just don't really like carbs that much. My ideal lunch is a tricolore salad ... lots of calories, but not much carb.

I had to lie down just reading what you have been upto!!

it sounds like you are very fit, but you will damage your health if you dont eat enough carbs, tricolore salad is very yummy - what about a side of crusty bread with it? dip it in some balsamic vinegar to disguise the taste!!

if only i didnt like carbs!!

I used to really like carbs, but have kinda trained myself off them. I'm a future diabetic, so try to have a low-gi diet (and the insane exercise thing) to make sure I get it later, rather than sooner.

I am pretty sure I am reasonably well-hydrated, I had a foul headache yesterday, (probably ketosis coming on?) so made sure I drank lots of water.

The headache has come back again, now, so I deffo need to eat some carb tonight. Tea is pasta, ratatouille and cheese, I normally have only a tiny bit of pasta and a giant pile of the rest. But I'll have ice cream or crisps or popcorn later.

Hmm, just googled ketosis, and yeah, that's it. Tired, bad taste, dunno about breath, headache, thirsty. Ah well, at least I know what it is and can fix it. Pretty crap of me, though.

hi,

Im a diabetic and have PCOS so try to stick to a low GI diet too, you just need to eat the right carbs - so wholemeal pasta mutigrain bread ect, very low carb diets can be detromental to your health, If you do become diabetic ketosis is not a good state to be in.

sorry if Im telling you stuff you already know or handing out unwanted advice

hope you get rid of the ketosis soon

It seems to be better now. I think. I had a fair bit of carb last night.

I was eating carb, before, anyway - I wasn't doing low carb, just not enough carb for my exercise levels! (I'm not tiny, either, so I do need quite a few cals just for hauling myself around! Oh, and the cycling is all with me + 2 kids on the bike, so really hard work.)

In my googling, I ended up on a webpage where someone was saying borderline ketosis was the best place for a diabetic to be. (And it must be too, because it's on the internet!)

in that case my bank balance is 3 million pounds and 27p - this is on the internet so it must be true lol

there is lots of research and some of it will prove anything the researcher want it to - some cambridge students proved that bumblebees can't fly as they are not aerodynamic enough

you sound like you know what you are doing though
