Severe tummy pains, waves of nausea when I eat, what can I do?

Yesterday morning I had diahorrea (for about an hour at most) nothing more since then but for about 2 hours after I eat I'm having really horrible pains and I feel sick on and off.

Is this a bug? Should I work tomorrow bearing in mind I'm a childminder and the parents will need me but obviously I don't want to pass it on if it is a bug although dp and dd's haven't been ill at all?

This sounds like a bug to me

What did you eat different to them?

LoveMyGirls · 23/11/2008 18:52

I had a mouthful of milk that was off on friday afternoon and some chicken that had been well cooked but by the time I actually got to eat it, it had been left on the side so could possibly have been that but if food poisoning I would have thought I'd have been sick and had lots of diahhorea rather than just 2 bouts of it.

Some FP can take days to arrive I think (hang on I will google)

"This ranges from hours to days (and rarely months"

Thanks KM, when the pains and sick feeling have gone (which they tend to do once the food has gone down looking at the pattern over the past 24 hours) I feel totally fine. But I can't last a whole day tomorrow without eating. Should I ring NHS direct? Everyone else I've been in contact with is totally fine (I've seen my pil, my parents, my sister as well as dp and dd's) so if they're all fine chances are mindee's should be fine too right?

Seems like that - Ring NHS direct...but don't expect an answer

I'm waiting for my mum to call me back she's a nurse so I'll let her tell me what to do hopefully the pains will be gone by tomorrow anyway.

What did your mum say?

LoveMyGirls · 24/11/2008 07:44

She said I should be fine for today and I do feel fine but I'm hungry and scared to eat incase it sets my stomach pains off, maybe if I don't eat until lunch at least if the pains do come back the lo's will be asleep and it will give me time to feel ok again before they wake up.

Try eating just a tiny bit first. Banana is a good easy food for a dodgy tum.

(Other good foods: apple juice, dry white toast, and plain rice.)

LoveMyGirls · 24/11/2008 08:00

Thanks NQC, I haven't got any bananas because I wasn't up to going food shopping yesterday, I could have a slice of toast but I tried toast yesterday and I still had pains so not sure about that.
