Damn, abnormal smear

Had a similar problem 18 years ago. My last smear results show mild dyskaryosis. It says I will need a Colposcopy. Anyone else has this, I'm worrying. It's one thing on top of another atm.

I have had this before, had a colcoscopy and a loop excision of the abnormal cells. It wasn't too bad but meant having more regular smears for the next 5 years.

Godd luck

Meant to say that this means they have caught it before it may become cancerous so nothing to worry about really.

I had a colposcopy & loop excision to remove abnormal cells as well. Try not to worry. I've got quite a few friends who've had to have a colposcopy & I'm the only one who's had to have further treatment. A colposcopy just gives a closer look at your cervix to see if anything more needs to be done. It's slightly more uncomfortable than a smear but nothing major.

Thanks for the reasurrances. Will make appointment asap to get it checked out. Maybe I won't need treatment. Years ago I had laser treatment and everything has been clear since. Feeling a bit down that I have to go through it again.

I worry after every smear. I've just had my second annual having had to have 6 monthly ones for a while. Not fun is it.

Not much fun. The main thing is that it's being checked on. I just wonder if it's my fault for not being careful enough with my sexual health. In other words has someone given this to me. Silly I know.

The HPV virus can be passed on through skin to skin contact although obviously you should be careful as you know.
