Boob ache???

Pheebe · 22/11/2008 11:21

Yes, really

My left boob aches on and off almost constantly, worse before my period. Not breastfeeding, no lumps or weirdness I or DH can find. I do carry DS2 on that side so it often gets 'crushed'.

Any ideas or should I suffer the embarrasment of going to the docs with 'boob ache'?

I went to the GP with one sided boob pain, thinking it was probably a hormonal thing, and expecting to be told now off you go silly woman.

I am currently waiting for biopsy results of a lump, I had not found. My boobs were generally lumpy but nothing odd IMO

The lump is now larger and painful.

Not wanting to scare you, but what is a little embarrasment , compared to making sure you are OK

Pheebe · 22/11/2008 15:07

Yes, you're right I know you are. I will go. Had it after ds1 was born then it went, now its back after ds2 which is why I've put it down to the way I'm carrying him.

I hope you results are clear

Pheebe- I get this too. It started actually just before I fell pregnant with DC2, and felt a bit like how my boobs feel when I'm getting mastitis (which struck me as odd since I'd stopped BFing DC1). During pregnancy and breastfeeding the pain pretty much disappeared, now 2 years on (having finished BFing 4 months ago) the ache is back and like you is worse just before my period. I have finally made an appt with a GP for a weeks time. I can't find any lumps at all...

Norks- really hope your results come back clear

Hi Pheebe, yeah defo get it checked out, you really don't want to live with the pain and the thought of what it could be (if you're like me) will drive you nuts.

Norks, i had a mammogram, scan and biopsy of a big old painful lump on Monday but am told that it is just a mass of healthy breast tissue.

After 8 weeks of pain, knowing that it's nothing sinister is a huge relief but it hasn't stopped the pain. I can't wear a bra (underwired, sports or maternity, i have tried them all) but cannot go without one if i step outside the front door. I am in constant pain and have been given Tamoxifen which is a hormone used for breast cancer, which has some pretty nasty side effects.

I am trying out super strength Evening Primrose Oil (quarter of a teaspoon a day) in the hope that this helps but this will take time.

I really hope your results come back clear - let us know how you get on.
Although just to say, i was told by my doctor that if anything nasty was found from my biopsy, they wouldn't write, they would call me in to do more tests... not sure if that helps you, but it did me as i haven't had a phone call.... yet.

I have a consultant appt tomoorow hence my rising anxiety

Chocol8 · 23/11/2008 20:22

Ahh, i see. Did they call you in or did you make the appointment?

I'm sure you'll be fine Norks, what time is it so we can send over some good, healthy vibes to help.

Norksinmywaistband · 23/11/2008 20:25

They made the appointment at the initial consultation, as soon as they realised it wasn't a cyst.

Chocol8 · 23/11/2008 20:27

Have they done a scan yet? The type that you have when pregnant which i stupidly can't remember the ruddy name of. D'oh!

Norksinmywaistband · 23/11/2008 20:34

Yes I had a mammogram, ultasound and an ultrasound guided biopsy

Chocol8 · 23/11/2008 20:38

Ultrasound, that's the one.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow Norks. I know it's easy to say, and you will anyway, but worrying about it isn't going to help.

Meanwhile, here's some big (((((((((((hugs))))))))))) for you.

Norksinmywaistband · 24/11/2008 14:05

Pheebe · 24/11/2008 15:20

would love to but that would mean leaving 2 preschoolers alone and I don't fancy social services on my back
A bottle of wine will have to suffice.
Please do book that appointment though

Pheebe · 24/11/2008 18:38

I will in the morning

Really pleased for you

Not sure if this will help, but I've heard that caffeine can cause breast lumpiness and pain. Not sure if you drink a lot of coffee or cola, but if you do, maybe it's worth cutting it out and seeing if that helps.

Chocol8 · 24/11/2008 22:27

Norks, that's fabulous news! Yay!!!
