I've had diarrhea on and off for the last 3 weeks. I tend to have it every other day. I don't know why I have it or what's causing it. I'm quite concerned know as there is blood in it also. Could this be an allergic reaction to some sort of food?
Help please. Too embarrassed to go to the doctor but can't keep forking out so much money on immodium.

Hello hekpful people. Have been to the doctor, she was lovely. (TMI) She had a look up my bottom using some sort of instrument and couldn't see anything. I have to give a stool sample and bloods on monday. She said not to worry for now and just wait until the tests come back.
May also have a food intolerance.
Thanks agian

Hope you feel less panicky now and can enjoy the weekend without too much worrying.

I'm glad it went so well for you. I'm glad that your doctor is being so lovely. Keep us updated.

It IS horrible having people look up your bum, isn't it!

I really hope you feel better soon. UC and lots of other things do start with symptoms quite abruptly sometimes. I was diagnosed with UC about a year ago, but have been pretty much fine since then. When they look for stuff, they really look!

If you get any pain in your tummy or lose your appetite or it gets any worse, go straight to A&E.

Just a little update if anyone wants it. Sent my sample off and went for blood tests today. The nurse took 7 tubes of blood, she said they are testing for lots of things. Should get the results back by the end of the week.

Fingers crossed they find out what it is and can get you treated.

Thanks for getting back to us, I lurked on this thread and was wondering how you were doing.

How are you feeling this week, Worried99? I hope you have managed to get to the doc. I've just had a gastro appointment today, which had been brought forward by about 3 months because of losing a lot of blood.

I was diagnosed with UC just over a year ago and they did all sorts of tests to find out what it was.

My symptoms took about a week to get really bad and I was in hospital for 10 days while they did various things to find out what was wrong. Since then I have been pretty much fine.

Please don't feel embarrassed about it- start getting better!

Posting under my real name now as I know there is no need to be embarrassed!

Hello people. Just a little update. I got my results back today. They just say that I have very low Iron levels. I'm going to see the doctor again this week. I have cut out cheese and cream and I've had no diarrhea.

LilRedWG · 01/12/2008 11:42

Good luck at the doctors.
