Piles or worms?

Are you pregant, or have you given birth in the last 6 months? (in which case piles - which can just be inside, not hanging out!).

If you have toddlers or older kids, you might have picked up threadworms off them.

Poor you. Hope you get it sorted soon!

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 15:52

Piles? Worms?
I get really itchy when I have piles

poppy34 · 19/11/2008 15:54

some kind of allergy - new soap, shampoo, detergent?

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 15:55

ewwww, I have older kids, I have had opiles before but I remember that hurting more.
wtf do i do about worms then?
ergh.
I literally feel like rubbing my bum against a tree bear style.

Agree, piles, fissure, thrush.

Go to the Dr and get it sorted quickly. I had the same problem for probably 5 years! One trip to the Dr and I was sorted in a week. It really is worth it.

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 15:55

poppy, it is just inside,
I am so sorry for sharing this.

This is gonna sound really gross, but have you checked your stolls, if worms, you'll see them in it. I think?

louii · 19/11/2008 15:59

Worms are usually most itchy at night time though.

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 16:01

at bight like when you are asleep, or in the evening, deffo worse in the evening.
I can not possible ask the GP to look at my bum I would die.

OP posts:
louii · 19/11/2008 16:04

U dont need GP to have a look pet.

I have had worms a couple of times, feckin itchy as hell.

U can get over the counter stuff, u will prob need to dose whole family are they are easily spread.

louii · 19/11/2008 16:08

Will get stuff in boots.

Read the link i posted its pretty good.

U prob caught them off the kids so dose everyone, sometimes not so itchy in everyone.

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 16:09

ewww, just read that although I would like to say I am not unhygenic.

OP posts:
louii · 19/11/2008 16:11

Jings woman, its not much to do with hygiene, i am a nurse, very clean, handwashing all the time etc and have had them twice.
Just one of those things, no need to be embarrassed at all.

NotActuallyAMum · 19/11/2008 16:13

Germaloids is worth a try, you can buy it at any chemist over the counter and they won't ask you any really embarrassing questions

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 16:17

am really grossed out. it is driving me mad though, it said on the link that poor hygene was a cause.
dd1 is in reception so I think I can guess where thay may have come from.
Thanks.

Reading this thread has made my bum itch.

louii · 19/11/2008 16:23

Yeah but not your hygiene, childrens hygiene thats why you have it.

SquiffyHock · 19/11/2008 16:24

When I was teaching I got worms once - you might wash your hands but 5 years olds are not too reliable!!

If you're embarassed just tell the pharmacist it's for your child

Klaw · 19/11/2008 16:33

If it is worms you should read this thread.

DD had threadworm a few months back and I gave her Cina (she won't take any other form of medicine) and also smeared her little bum with Metanium, She only had the little blighters appear one night but after the Metanium and one dose of Cina they never appeared again.....

I'm glad she wouldn't take the Prispen I got from the chemist as I'm trying really hard to be more holistic in our approach to diet and health, not obsessive, just more aware, iyswim.

Good luck

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 16:38

am also a bit worried because I am on my period and have my mooncup in at tyhe moment, how can I ensure I dont sread them?

OP posts:
louii · 19/11/2008 16:45

Its very very rare that they would be spread elsewhere in your body.
Honestly dont be worrying about that at all.

mrsmalumbas · 19/11/2008 16:47

If you have a generalised candida (yeast) infection that can also cause an itchy bum as the yeast thrives in your gut. How is your tongue - does it seem white/coated? Do you have thrush at all?

Another possibility is that you have bits of toilet roll in your bum or that you are allergic to the brand - using the moist kind can help I find.

I used to have really bad problem with piles and the only thing that helped with the itchiness was putting an ice cube against the itchy bit - wrapped in a paper towel to avoid bum-freeze! Sorry if TMI!

Also of course it could be worms as others have said in which case a dose of Ovex (nice banana flavoured stuff) can fix it but you need to treat the whole family.

FarTMISorry · 19/11/2008 16:48

thanks, thats put my mind at rest. will be scrubbing dd's to within an inch of their lives before and after tea. have just changed their beds today, clean pjs should be enough for today?
