DH has been diagnosed with chickenpox today and has in the last few hours developed lots of spots. I rang in work sick before this diagnosis as was feeling ill so assume I am getting the same thing. DD was ill a week ago with a high temp and diharroea (sp). I thought she was teething but could she have had it already?

You poor things. My dd was pukey before she got the spots and had quite a few, ds had the runs/fluey type symptoms but only 1 or 2 spots.

I got it when I was 17 and it was a ghastly, ghastly experience. I was covered in them and still have scars on my face today. My dad had to carry me up and down to the loo as they were even on the soles of my feet.

erm it's possible. As revolting as it is, better for your lo wo tget it out of the way. Hope you don't feel tooooo bad - whether you've got the Pox or something virusy. You poor things.

Just wait til you go out and people start to say "Hey I spotted you" and think that they are sooooo witty

cc, can't advise you regarding dd as I don't know how long the incubation period is for chicken pox but I bet if your dd does get it she won't be as poorly as your poor dh. Apparently it is so much worse for adults - my dad never had it as a child and caught it off us when we had it as kids and he was off work for weeks. Did you have it as a child?

gigglewitch · 18/11/2008 23:48

erm my typing is a bit wrong tonight
that big spoonerism thing was meant to say to get

gigglewitch · 18/11/2008 23:48

incubation 14 days. Cross fingers etc now.

DH was told to keep away from work for 5-7 days as we work in an open plan office and there are at least 2 pregnant women there. I feel so guilty as it is so contagious but we had no idea - neither of us has had it before.

I am feeling ill anyway but am sure I am itching more after his diagnosis. DH went to bed at 9 so is going to be up early with dd - we have took her out of nursery just incase.

my entire family had chicken pox when i was 6mths pg with dd - that is dh, mil and both my dses. What a lot of fun that was - err, not.
Hopefully the ladies have had it in childhood and therefore they will be ok

Just worry about yourselves for the time being, sure you've got enough to be dealing with there.

SquidgyBrain · 19/11/2008 09:34

if you haven't told the pregnant ladies in DHs office already it would be a good idea to. I was examined by a DR when I was pregnant who had chickenpox, I ended up needing an imunisation as although I had it when I was younger I had little or no immunity.

hoping you all feel better soon
