Terrified of Dentists but need to find a good one in Exeter.

I haven't been to the dentist for a loongg time due to a complete phobia brought on by brutal army dentists when i was a child.

I still have 2 milk teeth (canines) which are now starting to crumble away and need removing as the adult teeth are behind them.

Can anyone recommend a sympathetic dentist in Exeter to get me through this. I would like an NHS dentist if poss but obviously failing that would need to go private.

i had a really good dentist 5 years ago when i lived in exeter (nhs at the time - may have changed) it was Pinhoe Dental Centre on Pinhoe road - 01392 467302. My dentist was young and scottish (sorry i can't remember his name)! he was very friendly - i had him for 8 hours of root canal and a tooth exraction - he made me feel at ease and chatted away about his surfing weekends while having my root canal!

are you actually allowed to be in a dentist's chair for 8 hours? ooh that's awful bb.
Thanks for the phone number though.

lol not 8 hours straight! about 2 hours each session still hard going keeping your mouth open for 2 hours!

We had Mr Gerry in Exmouth and he was lovely.

Hello judge!.

Mr Gerry has just taken early retirement, sadly. We did see a fantastic dentist in Exeter in the summer, can't remember her name but the practice (sp?) is next to Athena, just off the High Street. Alternatively, Mr Gerry's replacement, Victoria Road, Exmouth is apparently very lovely. do not, repeat do not, register with his partner, Mr Golonko - he's a brute.

Thanks guys. The rest of my family are all registered with the practice next to Athena, but they have a grumpy male dentist and I am simply NOT brave enough to face him...

I'll be speaking to my mum a bit later - I'll ask for the address of her practice (she's had a lot of work done and seems happy with them)

I have a lovely dentist in Exmouth at the Victoria Road Practice, Mr Golonka. l am really terrified of dentist and always have been, but he is very understanding of this and makes you feel completly at ease.
