Is it possible to strap something under your nose to soak up the cascades of snot?

Have shitty shitty cold. Just went upstairs to get something, and forgot to take germ ridden snot rag with me.

By the time I had got downstairs (about 20 seconds later) there was rivers of the stuff running into my mouth.

I can't rememebr one as bad as this. Why do colds vey so much in their snot production?

When i get like this I shove two rolled up piees of tissue up eah nostril. Only when i'm in the house you understand.

ledodgy · 14/11/2008 21:03

Damn this tesco value keyboard the c is so stiff!

SoupDragon · 14/11/2008 21:04

Yes, the Walrus Look is the way forward.

NoBiggy · 14/11/2008 21:05

I knew someone who did the tissue plug thing when she had hayfever.

Called them nose-pons.

fizzbuzz · 14/11/2008 21:07

Have currently being using dd's vests as hankies, as they are nice and soft and my poor nose is like sandpaper, so am off to find tissues now, to plug the flood

So, your nose is no longer running and you've embarrassed your child. A win all round I think

AlistairSim · 14/11/2008 21:22

I have a friend who fashioned a kind of sling from a sanitary towel and some elastic bands.

Might be worth a try.

fizzbuzz · 14/11/2008 21:24

It didn' t seem to work....it hurt my nose, and the flood just escaped under the plugs

You could try tampons if you nostrils are big?

southeastastra · 14/11/2008 21:25

you need a neti pot, you fill it with salt water and put it up yer nose

SoupDragon · 14/11/2008 21:27

Is that like a tiny mooncup?

southeastastra · 14/11/2008 21:29

ew no, it's like a small watering can. you water the gunk out

fizzbuzz · 14/11/2008 21:33

What's a neti pot?

I have small delicate nostrils no tampon room

Ha ha, I thought it was just me that rolled up bits of tissue to stem that watery-start-of-a-cold stuff! Hate a "dreepy neb" and it stops you getting that wet-rabbit red raspy nose. Good at night too!
Also get Balm type tissues to start with - really do work. Tried the new-ish Olbas ones but found them a bit fiery....

Suedonim · 14/11/2008 21:41

Lolol! Dd does Ledodgy's trick and has tissues stuffed up her nose when she has a cold. She looks like some sort of demented Santa with a strange white beard. It's even more interesting when she has a nose bleed!

Btw, balm tissues are much softer than normal ones. They're expensive, though, so I only dole them out when people have potentially terminal colds.
