Weird period

My period was a few days late (was due fri), started spotting sunday night and then stopped and strted spoting again yesterday (on and off), today its very light on and off slightly more than yesterday. I have hardly any period pain (i usually get bad pain), no hot flushes and no weird dreams which i usually get. My period usually starts with spotting for the first 2 days and then realy heavy bleeding for 5 days so this isn't like me.

Should i be worried? This period just doesn't seem to get going IYKWIM.

Sorry if TMI.

Have you changed your sanitary protection? I only say that because when I changed to using a Mooncup, then mine changed too.

Couple of days of bleeding. Then a day of nothing, then it starts again for a couple more days. Never used to do this, only when I "mooncupped".

No, nothing changed, nice though, not to have a heavy period (may still get heavy), i hope this doesn't mean it will last even longer though. My periods have been realy heavy since having dd2 (3 years ago), maybe my body is settling down a little.

Can't really think of much else. Sorry. Maybe you're right and it's just settling down again.

About once a year I get one period that's really late - a good 10 days late! I have never found out what causes it, but just put it down to just one of those things.

Hopefully this will bump it for you, perhaps someone else can help.

Hopefuly its nothing.

Just starting to worry that i might be pg , we don't use contraception at the momment so we use the withdraw method (i know its stupid)

We have been talking about trying for another after x-mas but have been told not too by doctors as my 2 dd's are both being assesed for Autism (it can run in the family).

Lets just hope its just a light period

Mine's like that sometimes but I had/have endometriosis (which I don't think ever disappears, even though I had an op a couple of years ago). The first time my period was like this I also thought I might be pg but unfortunately that wasn't the case... Oh well, we've just got to keep trying I guess!

I don't think it's that abnormal but you could see a doctor if it keeps happening and you do want to get pg.

Thanks Louise, i will test friday if period doesn't progress, but i think it is unlikley, i have been to see the doctor before about my realy heavy and un-regular periods but they were not very helpful. ,maybe i sould go and see them again. Good luck with TTC, i hope it happens for you soon.

I have got some stomache pain put its higher up than it usualy is.

Hi Marne

Not sure this is of any help but...

I have had heavy periods since DD was born (she is 26m). This month I had what you describe. V odd I thought. Then a week later I had spotting - I have never had spotting before. By sheer co-incidence I had a letter reminding me I was due a smear. So I booked a last minute appointment to see the Nurse. I explained the details and she took a look.

What she said really suprised me, apparently I now have an "erroded" cervix - there is a more technical term but I forget it now! Basically it happens after you have DC or have been on the pill for ages. Your lining of the cervical "passage" relaxes and the cells are different. These cells then sit on the outside surface and can alter your periods and cause spotting etc. I have been told there is no cause for concern and that it happens to lots of women who have had children. It also explains the increased discharge alot of women experience after having children.

I hope that helps, I suggest you go and talk to your Nurse and get her to take a look.

All this is assuming you are not PG

thanks call meover- i had cervix erossion (sp) when i was pg with both dd's, i was suppossed to have it checked out after dd2 was born but never gor around to it so maybe it is my cervix. Maybe its time i got checked out.

This morning the bleeding has got heavier so i thing i can rule out being pg.
