Mouth ulcers - what's going on?!

Am getting fed up as a mouth ulcer I got about 2/3 days ago has now spread into lots of ulcers and really the whole front half of my tongue's sore and irritated and it's hard to eat. (And that's the worst bit)

I'm a teacher, generally knackered and run down. Is this it? I never really get ulcers or coldsores...

Am I deficient in some vitamin? Am feeling pretty all over rubbish...

I know it's a minor complain but ta for any tips - ahould I try Zovirax or one of those gel thingies?

Thanks mumsnetters.

Might be hand foot and mouth disease. Any spots anywhere else?

I suffer from mouth ulcers quite often, it's to do with a vitamin b deficiency. Take a good multi vitamin, and rinse your mouth with warm salt water.
If you can stand it, marmite is rich in vitamin B.
And I'm also a teacher, and I get them when i'm run down too.

The vitamin b tip is good, I didn't know that.

Corsodyl helps me clear them up, but it temporarily stains your teeth.

For pain relief, thee's a liquid called Anbesol (sounds like something for your bum I know!) which as anaesthetic and antiseptic you can dab on with a clean finger, quite good.

Isn't Bonjela just crap for them? Doesn't stay put!

Wow - thanks for all tips - really helpful as ever from mumsnet. thanks.

If you have lots of ulcers at once and are finding it hard to eat, it is quite possible that you have a viral infection. Go to see the GP and get checked over - especially if you are feeling generally crap.
