Is it possible to have a D&V bug without the D&V?

My DS started vomiting on Saturday night, stopped on Sunday and had D until yesterday. My DD hasnt (touch wood) caught it, despite stealing DS drinks and crawling all over him.

But i have had on and off nausea (very mild) and occasional stomach cramps and the feeling of needing a No2, yet not doing one.

Is it possible i have it and am not going to develop full symptoms, (this has been going on since Saturday evening) or is the D&V just around the corner?! My nausea seems to have gone completely, but my stomach is still crampy and still feel like i need the toilet alot.

The waiting and not knowing if im about to throw up is driving me mad.

Yes - if your immune system is doing a better job than your DS's. After all, you may have met a close variant in the past and have partial immunity, plus your immune system is better developed (assuming DS

yes

dd has had nausea but no D&V despite all her friends puking up for england

personally I wouldn't mind a bit of it but I never get ill for some reason

SmallShips · 05/11/2008 13:33

Yes DS is 2.

DS i back to normal now, but if i'm not going to throw up or poo this bug out, how long till i feel normal again?! Will it just go.

Hi Smallships, that must be doing the rounds all over the country because you are at the other end of the country to me !

My DS2 had the D bit of it. My ds1 had the V bit of it three days later, I had the D bit of it and the stomach cramps two days later and my dh had neither the D or the V but the stomach cramps and feeling crap bit two days after that.

He felt better the next day but it took me a couple of days to face any food or even food shopping (Asda was hell on earth on Saturday!).

TheGoat · 05/11/2008 13:44

yep, dd and dh have been vomiting an dpooing since friday night. i feel slightly queasy but have a fairly cast iron stomach. glad to havwe escaped dh looked like a plague victim.

The country is crawling with bugs so it seems. Loads of people are going down with them.

Surely DD would have caught it by now though, shes only 9mo.

Well according to the news recently its because people aren't washing their hands after they have been to the loo and apparently I live in the worst place in the country for it in terms of men doing it.

I was in Asda last week and I saw a woman walk out of a loo with her LO and not bother to even look at the sinks, then I saw her rumaging around the apples, blurgh!

singyswife · 05/11/2008 14:01

Yuck I hate when people dont wash their hands. My MIL NEVER washes her hands after she has been to the loo and she is never ill. I dont always wash my hands but I have antibacterial gel which goes everywhere with me and it ALWAYS goes on after I have been to the toilet or after I have been shopping and have pushed a trolley(dd caught a nasty d&v bug from a trolley once and it freeked me out).

To explain my reasons for not hand washing in the toilet, I cannot stand the smell of public toilets and often they are busy and hot and I hate the noise of the driers but I (and my dd's) ALWAYS ALWAYS use the gel after we have been to the loo.

MumtoCharlieandLola · 05/11/2008 14:08

It could have been you then ???

Must admit, my dad is immuno-suppressant (transplant patient) and my mum is paranoid about shopping trolleys,

Sorry, slight hijack of your subject here Smallships. Mind I can see a pattern emerging, wasn't it you who had the shitting elf partner some months ago that got me hooked on MN in the first place ??

singyswife · 05/11/2008 14:09

Are you talking about me?????

Donk · 05/11/2008 14:10

Smallships - when you feel better will depend on your immune system! (how long is a piece of string?) I hope not too long...
ARe you BFing your DD? If so she may be benefiting from your (partial) immunity.

MumtoCharlieandLola · 05/11/2008 14:13

No , sorry, I was on about Smallships, its just she's on about 'shitting health' instead of the 'shitting elf' now.

Long story

singyswife · 05/11/2008 14:15

Oh okay just wondered I was getting a bit confused. .

SmallShips · 05/11/2008 14:16

Yes i am the one with the shitting elf for a husband. Though i refused to be blamed for your MN addiction lol .

DD was BF but isnt anymore and im assuming now shes older than 6mo my immunity will be gone?! I suppose seeing as DS has just got over it, there is still time for her to catch it.

My immune system is crap atm, just had a coldsore and been feeling a bit run down for a while.
