Cargirl was right.

overbuurvrouw · 04/11/2008 21:06

Is that good news? How far along do you think you might be?

ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 04/11/2008 21:07

Oh right. Are you OK?

princessmel · 04/11/2008 21:09

Have you been having periods?

NorthernLurker · 04/11/2008 21:12

Ok - is this good news though a shock or is it not so good?

cmotdibbler · 04/11/2008 21:13

How do you feel about it ? Am presuming that you might be quite far along by your expansion ?

phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:19

I am v happy but utterly, utterly shocked - wanted to ttc but

periods never came back (ds bfed until 18m, only stopped a few weeks ago). yeah I know, doesn't mean much - more to the point me and dh have been, um, otherwise occupied iykwim

but god, it explains a lot of curious signs...

phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:20

overbuurvrouw we have absolutely no idea!

how do they tell, if your last period was 2.5 years ago and you can't remember when you last bonked? do I have to wait for the scan??

OP posts:
MatNanPlus · 04/11/2008 21:21

Congrats.

NorthernLurker · 04/11/2008 21:23

Many congratulations! I think they'll refer you for a scan asap but your GP should be able to give you an idea of how pregnant you are by examination too.

Bella73 · 04/11/2008 21:23

Congratulations! Yes, you'll have to wait for the scan but they will hopefully book a scan pronto to get an idea when you have no clue how far along you are (this is what they did for me when pg with dd2).

Bella73 · 04/11/2008 21:24

(sorry phd, realise you probably have no idea who I am as I mainly lurk on MN but recognise you from blw board...)

NorbertDentressangle · 04/11/2008 21:24

O wow! Congratulations.

Now you know whats going on, how long do you think you've been getting symptoms for?

NorthernLurker · 04/11/2008 21:26

We could try narrowing it down a bit for you - did you go on holiday this summer? If so when and have you bonked since then, or can you remember bonking on holiday or was it before that? Horribly personal questions I know..... but still?

Hulababy · 04/11/2008 21:28

Oh wow, congratulations!

Have you been to see the GP yet - they will book you in for a dating scan.

muppetgirl · 04/11/2008 21:28

I was on zoladex implants for endometriosis when I became prgt with ds 1 I hadn't had a period for 9 months and didn;t have any dates as such. I still had to wait fro the dating scan.

Congrats by the way!

overbuurvrouw · 04/11/2008 21:28

Congratulations!

I think they have to work it out based on scans, but one might not be enough if you're further than 12 weeks, IIRC.

Try to think back constructively about what symptoms you had when (have you got some sort of planner/diary) you might be able to get quite a good idea.

I recently conceived whilst breastfeeding, hot itchy nipples were the first sign (at implantation), it was quickly followed by finding comfort sucking intensely irritating.

spicemonster · 04/11/2008 21:30

Oh wow! And I was about to post that it was most likely some kind of muscle thing gone wrong in the wall of your uterus as that's what made my friend's belly button pop

Congrats!

phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:34

thank you!

Norbert, danged if I know as they were all so vague:
getting fatter - could happen any time
boobs - seemed to get bigger after I stopped bfing, thought that was why
tummy eczema - well yeah, the last time that happened I was pg, but it could just've been the dry weather
frequent weeing - only really got annoyed with it this morning, but have been waking up every night for yonks

I mean you just wouldn't add those up and go, "hmm...pg", would you! (unless you are cargirl, that is - what is she, psychic?!)

going to see MW tomorrow. bit excited

ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 04/11/2008 21:37

Congratulations. For some reason I'm dying to know when you're due. I reckon you're 16 weeks already.

phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:37

NL

yes we did go on holiday, in August. pretty sure we did it once since then, but no idea when! (I know, I know, it's pretty sad but like I said, we've been preoccupied)

OP posts:
ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 04/11/2008 21:39

It's got to be august. If you'd conceived later than that your belly wouldn't have grown that much yet.

phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:39

I'm dying to know too ohIdolike

I reckon it might be 16 weeks or even more

have been imagining I can feel flutterings ever since I saw the result!

OP posts:
phdlife · 04/11/2008 21:42

oooh overbuurvrouw the comfort-sucking-driving-me-insane was late August-early Sept!

(but not sure if that's a clue - it was irritating because it was extremely painful, I thought because he'd changed his latch and was comfort-sucking 900 times a night due to teething)

OP posts:
ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 04/11/2008 21:43

You're prob not imagining the flutterings if you've been there before. Oh - what if it's twins!

overbuurvrouw · 04/11/2008 21:45

I'm 9+2 at the moment and now it's only at night that it annoys me... It was at it's most unbearable around weeks 5 and 6.

Seriously, think back. You always remember far more than you think you did IYSWIM.

Good luck with the midwife tomorrow!
